It would not be exaggerating if I say that I love today’s type of music genres. I can listen to pop, rock, jazz, visual kei, folk music and love all of it. But sometimes I have this need deep inside me to go back to the basics – classical music.
The first time I listened to a piece of classical music was when I was in 1st or 2nd grade. I’ve got a cassette tape from my school for upcoming performance (I was singing and dancing back then, still don’t know how people were listening to me, lol) and there was a piano piece within the recordings. I loved it instantly. I don’t know which one it was, I just purely loved it.
During all the years after that I never got back to classical music, but then my sister went to study in a music high school, and she brought back this music to me. Even got me playing with her – if she needed to struggle with the piano during summer break, then so should I. And my love for this type of music grew stronger.
Nowadays I no longer play, but I love to listen – piano, viola, orchestra… You can just press the play button and I will listen. And this evening (okay, night) I somehow ended listening the below performance and thought why not to share.
The pianist is Alexander Malofeev, playing Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 43, with Frankfurt Radio Symphony. Listen and enjoy!
