My music taste is flowing to interesting directions, I might say. But honestly, I’m not even surprised as through the years I’ve found many interesting bands and musicians from all over the world – from J-Rock, Visual kei, C-Pop and K-pop to my origins of pure rock music and even rap and hip-hop.

Recently I’m more into alternative and mostly European artists, but also actively listening to music, which would not be the case from time to time due to different circumstances – mostly work draining my energy. In any way, let’s talk about music, shall we?

Alis – Nân

Surprisingly, at least to me, the Albanian song from this year’s Eurovision became my favourite one. I haven’t listened to the artist before, but Alis has interesting voice and the song itself has very good rhythm and lyrics. It sings about the mothers and the so well-known Balkan reality where sons and daughters are leaving their countries to look for better future, leaving their parents behind. The powerful chorus singing “Know that your mom is waiting for you, and your mom is sending you off, Mom stands there at the doorway, two weeks, two years, this summer is gone…” gives me chills every time.

Wake Up – I had a dream

Stylishly going back to 2012 to Poznan, Poland. The band is called Wake Up and the song occupying the stations is “I had a dream”. It got me instantly with its calmness, but most of all with the distinctive voice of the vocalist Krzysztof Kiełpiński, who I’m lucky to have met in real life this year. The song is romantic, but with that slight nostalgia singing about that dream of being together with your loved one, the repetition of the lyrics cementing the feeling of longing. I just love it so much.

Wiktoria Kida, Oskar Cyms, Księga Żywiołów – Gdy będziesz sam

Returning to Poland in present days, a new song that caught my attention by simply being suggested to me by Spotify is “Gdy będziesz sam” by Wiktoria Kida, Księga Żywiołów and Oskar Cyms. I like the modern sound, but also the nice way their voices blend together and the rhythm that sticks in your mind. I would catch myself singing along to the chorus while just working or doing whatever else I need to do. And after finally checking what the lyrics are saying I liked them too – again love song, but hey, recently all songs are love songs, right?

I also saw that Wiktoria Kida and Księga Żywiołów have a lot of songs together and I may say they produce very good music.

Molec – Pepel [Молец – Пепел]

The brand new song by Molec is super amazing. “Pepel”, which translates to Ash is made in the already familiar Molec style and believe it or not is actually worship song. These guys are creating and producing new worship music style, that actually appeals to the younger generations. The lyrics has meaning, the melody is catchy, the performance is awesome, the MV is done professionally and again very appealing. I wasn’t really listening to them before, but I started last year and I’m even going back to their older songs and simply enjoy them. Good job!

LAY – Call My Name

Last, but not least, is the newest masterpiece by Lay Zhang. I don’t think there is a song by Lay that I don’t like, and this one as well caught me and it plays on repeat these past few days, I can’t get enough of it. Yixing knows how to make music, so go listen to it!
